How it works

What a digital business card is, how the card and the tag fit together, and what it costs.

The card is what people see. The tag is what they touch. Change the card as often as you like; the tag never needs replacing.

One card each, and something to tap

A Tessel card is a contact page that belongs to one person at your firm. It has their name, their direct line, their photograph — whatever you put on it — and a single button that drops all of it into somebody else’s phone. No app to install, on either side.

The tag is how people reach it. It is a physical thing with a chip inside: a card for a wallet, a disc for the back of a phone, a sticker for a laptop. Hold it against a phone and that person’s page opens.

The card and the tag are not the same thing

This is the one thing worth understanding before you start, because it is what makes the whole arrangement easy to live with. The card is information and it changes. The tag is an object and it does not. A new job title, a new mobile number, a new photograph — you change the card and every tag pointing at it is instantly right. You never reprint anything.

The card

What people see

The tag

What people tap

What it is
A page on the web that only its tag opens
A physical object with a chip in it
Where it lives
In the portal, and on whoever's phone tapped it
In a pocket, a wallet, or on a desk
Who changes it
You, any time, from the portal
Nobody. Once written, it always opens its card
When it changes
Instantly, everywhere, on the next tap
Never — it's written once, then left alone
If someone leaves
Turn the card off and it stops opening
Take the tag back and give it to the next person

The one exception: if a tag is lost, replace it under the card’s Settings. The card keeps all its content, but the lost tag stops working at once — and so does any other tag for that card, until it is written again with Tessel Tags.

How it goes

  1. 01

    Start your free month

Create an account and name your firm. Nothing to pay.

  2. 02

    Invite everyone

Paste your people's email addresses. Each person gets an invitation and makes their own card — name, title, direct line, photo. You watch them finish.

  3. 03

    Choose the look

Your firm's name, logo and colour, set once for every card. Then each tag is written in a few seconds with Tessel Tags, our Android app.

  4. 04

    They tap it

Any modern phone, no app. The person tapping says in one tap whether they're a client or a colleague, then the card opens. You see who, and how often.

Ready when you are

Your first month is free. Invite everyone, choose the look, and see a card open on your own phone before you decide anything.
